Thank you for your interest in being a part of CLSC! We have concluded our tryout days for the Fall/Winter Season, but we may be able to schedule tryouts in season. If you're interested in trying out this fall/winter, please email aquatics@latinschool.org.

Tryouts will be approximately ten minutes long and are open to swimmers of a wide range of experience and proficiency levels. Swimmers wishing to join the Developmental group will be asked to complete 50 yards of freestyle with rotary (side) breathing and 25 yards of backstroke. Swimmers wishing to join the Blue, Orange, or Roman group will be asked to complete 100 yards of freestyle, 25 yards of backstroke, 25 yards of breaststroke, and 25 yards of butterfly. Between each swim, they will be allowed to take a short break. During the freestyle portion of the tryout, the swimmer must demonstrate consistent side breathing technique and may be asked to demonstrate flip turns. Swimmers may also be asked to demonstrate racing starts from the diving block. 

CLSC is a competitive swim team, not a learn-to-swim program, so please check in with prospective swimmers to make sure they feel comfortable with the tryout expectations, as they will need to meet those expectations in order to be offered a place on the team. The tryouts will begin in the deep end of the pool, so swimmers must also be comfortable in deep water (10 feet). Almost every pool where we compete will be at least 10 feet deep, so this is an important expectation. 

We will only accept a limited number of registrants depending upon current member retention. Decisions regarding a swimmer's participation on the team will not be made on the pool deck. 

The CLSC coaching staff reserves the right to make final determinations on group placement and admissions to CLSC. All decisions are based on coaching and subject to change based on performance. 

Our pool is located in the Upper School building of the Latin School of Chicago, 59 W North Blvd, at the corner of Clark Street and North Boulevard.
